I am a fully qualified Oncology Therapist able to modify therapy techniques in order to work with the complications of cancer and cancer treatments.

The diagnosis of cancer can bring a great deal of anxiety and fear. I can offer my support every step of the way. One of the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences for a person with cancer is to receive gentle, compassionate, accepting touch. Touch is fundamental. I aim to enhance your natural healing abilities by providing that supportive touch.

I work to relieve any symptoms of pain during any stage of health – from recovery to those receiving palliative care. Massage is considered a form of complimentary therapy and is used alongside mainstream medicine. I aim to treat the person as a whole, not just the symptoms of the disease.

I also offer a mobile service, bringing my therapy sessions to you in the comfort of your own home. I also run my treatment room at home, should you wish to come to me.

I have an informed understanding of the disease itself and the many ways it can affect the human body, the side effects of cancer treatments, such as medications, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, and the ability to modify massage techniques in order to adapt for these side effects, as well as for the disease.

Clinical assessments and adaptations will be made. A history of your cancer treatment is crucial for me in order to provide safe treatment.

Before our initial appointment here are some of the questions you should expect me to ask:-

– Cancer treatment history

– Tumour site or metastasis

– Compromised blood cell counts

– Lymph node involvement

– Blood clots or blood clot risk

– Medications (short and long term)

– Vital organ involvement

– Fragile or unstable tissue

– Medical devices

– Fatigue, neuropathy or pain

– Changes in sensation

Some of the reasons so many people with cancer seek massage is because:-

– It releases physical symptoms and pain caused from treatment of the disease itself

– Reduces hospital stays

– Makes them feel whole again

– Helps them to relax and aids sleep

– Helps them to share feelings in an informal setting

– Reduces anxiety and depression

– Improves quality of life
