Sports Massage

I am a fully qualified Sports Therapist with a passion for helping people overcome their injury through my treatments.

Many people hold a misconception about Sports Massage, that it is for those who participate in sporting activities at a serious or professional level. This is not true. I am trained in sports and remedial massage, and I work with Clients from all walks of life.

Whether you are suffering from a recent or long-term injury associated with a specific hobby or activity, or have been experiencing long term back pain as a result of your posture or occupation – I am able to help.

A Sports massage, like other forms of massage, helps improve the suppleness and flexibility of muscles and joints. It improves lymph and blood circulation and assists your body to function at its optimum level. Regular sports massage is proven so beneficial for injury prevention.

For a sports person an injury can have a huge effect on you, physically and mentally, and I can help diagnose your injury and advise on time frames in returning to the sport you enjoy. I would create a unique and tailor-made treatment plan for you and can offer advice between our sessions.

Sports Massage speeds up the healing of damaged or overworked tissue and muscles, thus reduces recovery time and allows a sports person to regain their health and performance.

Pre-event massage stimulates the body (in particular the muscle groups that are most important to that event) and mind of the athlete, increase fitness capabilities and performance potential.

Post-event massage helps clear out waste and toxins (e.g. lactic acid from muscles) reducing stiffness and enabling a faster recovery time. Massage helps break up adhesion’s that can develop between the fascia of different muscles, thus improving muscle suppleness and mobility enables muscles and joints to heal faster after injury.

I am able to help manage or resolve your injury so the chances of it reoccurring are greatly reduced. I will offer you good after care guidance in the form of exercises and lifestyle advice. This enables you to take an active role in your recovery and to prevent future problems from re-occurring.
